The speed of this key is barely faster than an usb 2.0… Takes me 10 minutes to transfer 3gig of data. It takes me 45 seconds to transfer the same things on my usb 3.0 hdd. Still the key looks to have a solid build and cheaper than many usb 2.0 key… I’m still glad to have bought it and would recomend it to others.
Quinn Burgess –
First USB 3.0 drive for me. When used with USB 3.0 ports, and transferring single, large files, it will hit 90+ MB/s. When transferring many smaller files, like tools for a tech, it is a bit faster than usb 2, around 40 MB/s. The cover is nice too.
Alchemist –
There is no much to say about Kingston flash memories those are by far one of the best out there and the usb 3.0 is definitely a huge plus for faster transfer speeds,,also it is backward compatible with usb 2.0 for computers that don’t have usb 3.0,,so I recommend to purchase this one since it can work on both. Thanks Amazon for the quick delivery.
Afroturf –
This is amazing! I bought is on sale so I was very happy with the price. PLUS it works on my PlayStation 4 for taking off all of my video recordings and screenshots! And since the PS4 is 3.0 compatible it is VERY fast by comparison to using my 2.0 usbs. Additionally, this is just a very durable usb, nothing about it feels cheap! and the sliding mechanism does not seem like it will be breaking anytime soon, I have had the product for about a month now, and I regret NOTHING! great addition to my pc and ps4 setup in my room.
Johnny K –
I tried ordering the 32 gig but for some reason would not ship to my location but this one was able to. And I honestly love it. I wish it would’ve come with a wrist string or whatever they’re called, but a quick trip to the dollar store and I can hang it with the others. I use it to play music on my PS4
Charltone Guitars –
Works as expected, reasonable price (under $20), free shipping, got here in 3 days, packaged safely, fit into my PO box. The 32 GB gives me plenty of space to backup ALL my pictures & data, not just the stuff deemed to be can’t live without.” Glad I did it. Now I’m all backed up.”
catlover –
This is not Kingston’s best flash drive however, it is very good. It is fast and glides effortlessly. It seems very sturdy. I have had some of the same for a very long time and have used them countless number of times with no problems at all. I am sure to always close the folder before ejecting the flash drive to be sure that no files are lost and so the computer will read the flash drives the next time I plug it in.
Chandrasekar Ramakrishnan –
A lot of storage, fast transfer speed. This is perfect for kids going to university/college because the idea is to not think about storage — almost to use this as another drive on their laptop. My favourite use is putting pictures and videos on it to then watching it on my TV. It’s also durable. I’ve yanked this thing in and out of a lot of different devices and it always behaves.
Paul Arthorne –
The transfer speeds on the monster are almost telepathic. Think of the file you want to copy and its done. Not really. yes USB 3 is faster but its not like going from USB 1 to USB 2 or a dial up to high speed. Works well though and the case is sturdy.
Kirito –
Amazing! For 15CAD you get 32GB of USB 3.0 speeds. I’ve had it for over half a year, and no problems have occurred though vigorous use. It also has a nice look and textured feel to it, and I don’t believe it can be beat for the price.
D –
Great drive. Much bigger and faster than my old 2GB. I’ll be using it to install operating systems and transfer media quickly to my netbook for when I’m on the go.
Jason –
Not exactly sure why I only have 29.3 gigs of space when its clearly labeled as 32 gig, but other than that at this price point, I’m very pleased, its read and write speed are great and having no cap to lose is fantastic.
Pathfinder –
If you’re looking for real USB 3.0 SS speed, look somewhere else. But if you’re looking for the balance between capacity and speed, you come to the right place. The speed is not class-leading but it is certainly better than USB 2.0. The price for the capacity is also great.
Jay Klepacs –
I use an older Notebook computer, an EliteBook 6930p 2008 model and I already had a hand-full of various memory cards here that work with my desktop computer but the Notebook refuses to read them, it’s very picky but it works flawlessly with the Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3. The only other memory stick it also works with is a Sandisk Cruizer Glide but I find the DT100G3 more efficient .
RB –
It was good while it worked. Transferred fast, but stopped working after a few months. Everything seemed to be working fine with it however for a few months. One day I plugged it, put a gigs of data on it. Everything seemed normal. Then for no apparent reason when I plugged it back, the laptop refused to recognise it. I tried it on different laptops thinking that there might something wrong with my computer. But nope, did not get recognised by 2 other computers as well.
SSie –
The device works according to specifications. The write speed is only 10 MB/s on all of my three computers (having different versions of Windows), which is much slower than that mentioned by other customers. As far as I know, Amazon does not provide the specifications on the read/write speeds, but on the Kingston website is indicates 10 MB/s write and 40 MB/s read speed. Another problem that I found is that it takes a while for the device to achieve the top write speed (usually starting with 2-3 MB/s).
Haissam –
Be advised that this is actually usb 2.0, and not 3.0, so speeds might seem slow at times, but nothing that would seriously hinder performance. For the very low price you pay, it is of excellent value. I’m currently using it as a shared storage device on my router, and it works perfectly fine.
Mergatroid –
So far so good. No issues. I have not had the opportunity to try it on a computer with USB 3.0 yet, but it had not had any problems on USB 2.0. A little metal keychain ring would have been a great addition.
Marc-André Joncas –
Does what it’s supposed to. I haven’t lab-checked the speed, but on an USB 3.0 interface, it’s plenty fast for my needs. The only complaint I may have is about the build quality. Nothing’s loose, but the plastic quality looks and feels cheap.
Samuel Dor –
This usb stick, for the price i’ve recieved it, well I am not going to lie it’s a pretty good price for a usb with 32GB memory, to me it was useful, the ammount of speed that this stick has when applying a big file inside of it is decent, it pretty much recive files quickly. There is no downside to this, the quality of the stick is decent, all in all it’s a good product and yes I do recomment it to those who has big files or a tone of pictures or what not that you want to keep close to you in a safe place.
Alexander Michaels –
A fantastic USB key that doesn’t feel like a cheap piece of plastic. Has a loop for a lanyard or other strap (but does not come with one). Good size for the price, and seems fairly durable for tossing in the backpack when you’re on the go.
JDS –
Solid unit. Fast. Works very well. Deducting 1 star because I believe it is misleading to claim it is a 32GB stick when it is actually 28GB (I know it’s because of the conversion/definition of bits, bytes, etc.) Just call it 28 instead of 32 to avoid any confusion.
marcel robitaille –
I cannot recommend this product. This is my second Kingston USB drive. Both stopped working after minimal use. It took this one less than a month. It is not recognized by my Windows computer using disk management or `diskpart` or by my linux computer using `lsusb` or `fdisk -l`.
Anton Kaptainis –
The sliding cover solved one of the biggest problems I’ve had with USB sticks. I always lose the protective cap, and soon after the stick breaks. This USB stick has been thrown in my bag countless times and it still works perfectly. I’ve had the product for a while and its outlasted all other sticks I’ve owned. Data speed is great too.
THRobinson –
Works great… my sister got a tablet at Xmas and her USB stick wouldn’t work in either her nor my tablet. I always use Kingston, and tried mine in hers and worked fine so bought this for her so she can watch movies and such with it. Bit jealous because it’s better than the older Kingston I have.
Fazlur-Rehman Malik –
It says I have enough space on my USB which is completely empty but I still cannot put an 10GB movie file on to it. And when I format to work, for a Macbook Pro, the movie file wouldn’t open on a PC computer after. It is not worth it at all for the extra haste at all.
Lloyd Gaskell –
I have a PCI USB 3.0 card wanted a thumb drive that could match USB speeds. Windows 7 cache reports write speeds of 80MBS but in reality write speeds are around 60MBS and read speeds about double. Good for the price but no true USB 3.0.
Jerry G. –
This is 32GB memory stick but the chip inside says 8GB. The key worked for a while and then it stopped working. At first, I was not able to write to the key anymore data, I was able to read from it. Eventually I was not able to access any data as the key was no longer recognized. When I took it apart, it showed a 8GB chip inside. They key probably stopped working once I went over the chips data limit and the system didn’t know how to handle this since it was tricked to think there was 32gb of data available. Beware about this seller!
Joe Camel –
Very disappointed with this. I recently used a Kingston Data Traveler Ultimate 3.0 G3 32 GB to copy music and photos from my old to my new computer. Although the download from the old XP computer took a while, uploading to the new one only took minutes.I assumed the ones that I bought would do the same. i bought them to backup my new computer. To backup Documents and Photos took 8 hours! At times the speed shown on the progress chart was as low 48 KPS! I don’t know if these are knockoffs or just inferior products. Don’t waste your money.Incidentally you don’t get 32GB, it’s more like 28.
Amazon Customer –
I have tried 3 different brands of USB sticks and this Kingston model suits me best. The design is correct in that I do not have to hold down a button to insert the male end into the USB receptacle. Also the design allows the closure of the plug end for protection against accidental breakage. I have yet to have lost files or corrupt data with a Kingston data traveler, something I cannot say about other brands.
Larry B –
This device is as described. Comes packaged in great shape and has a hole on the end to attach a key ring or lanyard (this however is NOT INCLUDED. just the drive). The outer plastic shell seems quite sturdy (when extended or closed, Twisting it has little-to-no bend and appears to hold up well). Thsi unit also takes advantage of USB3 Speeds (If your device is equipped for USB3 (usually a BLUE USB plug color on the device). but if you are on older USB this device is backwards compatible (will work, but data transfer speeds are slower). Also BONUS, I created my media restore backup and tested a Boot-From-USB and this device WORKS to boot USB (unlike other non-related devices I tried). I recommend this device (price for name-brand is excellent). Buy it, you;ll love it too!

Merci Amazon! Livraison en temps 2- Produit fonctionne parfaitement Toujours satisfait avec vous sauf une fois = Achat Batterie pour Tablette Samsung = Jamais reçu !!! 99% satisfait 5 étoile !! Pas mal tout de même !!!!
mdub –
The USB 3.0 compliance is a bit deceitful. Do NOT use this for ReadyBoost. 87 MB/s read, 5.6 MB/s write and 0.59 msec access time over USB 3.0 jack. 32 MB/s read, 4.2 MB/s write and 1.05 msec a.t. over USB 2.0 jack. I tested using standard Ubuntu disk benchmark tool ‘disks’
Lidi –
Arrived in 1 day. I have few of these already and need another one to put cartoons and movies to play on my smart tv for my son. This item is a great value for the price because it cost over 20 dollars when you go into the department store or best buy. You can playback 1080 movies straight from this drive on your smart tv and it will play without any delays.
Andy –
It works and it fits into the usb port. If you have usb ports lined up side by side with very small room in between the usb ports, and you use up all of the usb ports, then this product isn’t for you. This usb stick will take up a portion of the area of your second usb port; you won’t be able to use the second usb port. TL;DR: It’s a good product for general use, but it takes up too much space.
PGuelph –
Package arrived in good condition and all the sticks worked properly. Reduced one star since I do not know how long will it work. But good buy.
Robert W –
I had to return the first unit as it stopped working on the second try. As always Amazon was quick to reply and promptly sent out a replacement. The 2nd unit has worked well so far. Pros: – Great price for the amount of storage. – Used in conjunction with my HooToo device. No lag or buffering on movies. – Decent transfer speeds. Cons: – Slightly larger than comparable units. Overall this is a good USB stick. Nothing fancy.
Amazon Customer –
Got this on sale a while back. It has been performing okay, but really get it on sale. I wouldn’t say its very fast, probably regular speed for most USB3 keys. Anyways, no issues thus far and you can trust Kingston to have a decent USB drive which you won’t ever need to replace. I like the fact that you can retract to protect the USB connector when you carry it around.
Colin –
Absolutely fantastic for the price. This USB is 32gb and USB 3.0… for such a low price, you will not be disappointed. I’ve heard some say that even though it is USB3.0, that it wasn’t as fast as other USB’s of this speed. Personally, I’ve not noticed any issues with the speed. Even if the speed was a little slower, it is still very good for the money. I’ve always bought Kingston USB’s because their quality and performance was always great, and this one did not disappoint. 5/5 would recommend.
Scotty B –
Fast transfer rate. I can play an HD movie right off the stick with no issues. Other than that it is your standard key style flash drive.
hansFP –
I paid 7$ for this including taxes. It’s ok for the price, but it has slow writes. I measured 8MB/s writes and 130MB/s reads. It’s also very clunky, if I put it in my laptop’s USB port, it also covers the adjacent one and I can’t plug anything else.
Canuck –
This product keeps failing during large file transfers. It gets hot and the file copy fails. I have a lot of different USB memory sticks, and this is the only one where I’ve ever had this problem. The price was right, but this didn’t work out for me. I may have just received a bad one, which did take a long time to arrive from overseas.
Giggs –
Not USB 3 speeds!!! For the price, can’t really complain too much. Little misleading. Works ok, no problems so far. Not the most well built stick ever. If you want speed and quality look elsewhere!! If you are looking for an inexpensive stick, look no further. Transfer speeds are a little less than my 3 year old, used daily 32gb USB 2 verbatim store n go
Danny N –
Fairly inexpensive USB but found the read times quite slow when compared to other brands. If you are moving big files often, you may want to look at getting something else. I’m actually using these USB to transfer vehicle data at my dealership, and in an environment where time is money, I wish I bought a faster writing data stick.
Ian Beduya –
I get an average of 8mb/sec transfer from an SSD drive to this USB stick, running on an i7 processor. It is very slow. I have other USB sticks that average over 70mb/sec.
Jeff Poremba –
Kingston are my go-to thumb drive brand, especially their 32GB+ USB 3.0 ones. Even if you don’t have a USB 3.0 port on your computer you will get much higher than average transfer/copy speeds since these are USB 3.0. For the price and speed these can’t be beat.
Nickolas –
Wouldn’t accept any files on it. Tried formatting it several times, no luck. returned!
Dante Miguel –
Hard to format, but reliable. It took me 8 or 9 times and a few third party programs to properly wipe the drive and reformat to make a Bootable OS. Not sure if this is a Kingston specific issue or if it just wasn’t working properly. Haven’t experienced any corruption of data.
sprite –
great for the price – there is a part where you can slide a small string can be looped in for you to use in a keychain – maybe the design could have been better but for what you pay it works fine – i wish they gave you the loop/string but they don’t
Jonathan G. –
super device to backup my hard drives, loads of space and the usb speed is pretty decent.
Rs.chen –
Small, very easy to carry, but after using for a while, some files become corrupted. not sure is because of this memory stick.
Jean –
Freeze sometime had to format 2 time. never see that before and i have multiple
Catherine L Davis –
Works perfectly on Mac and PC. Able to format as exFAT. Ordered 15 units – all worked well for HD video transfer.
Daniel E Renwick –
Quality as expected. Love the sturdy build. Actually appreciate the ‘standard’ size, dosn’t run hot, won’t blow away with a fan on.
ZHENGJUN LI –
Buy this product if you want to waste your money and risk losing your data. I bought it about a year ago and only used it once for backing up windows system. The second time I plugged it into my computer for restoring window, the drive can not be recognized. Tried different computers, none of them reads the drive.
Michael S. –
It’s difficult to review these standardized products. It works, it seems pretty fast, it supports USB 3, the sliding mechanism doesn’t seem flimsy. Pretty good! What good is this review in a sea of others? As you can see, it’s regarded universally as a working product.
Azad K –
Supports USB 3.0 and 3.1… 32GB. Great bang for your buck. There’s a hole in the top you attach a lanyard as well.
ET –
Bought 2. One marked made in Taiwan and second from Thailand. The Taiwan one has slightly faster write but both are average performers when writing many JPEG images (regardless connected to USB-2 or USB-3 port). 5 MB per second is all you can achieve from a Windows-7 PC. Writing videos (movies etc) is faster at about 9 MB per second. Read speed is not a problem. Construction is good. There is no light to indicate it is working. These are above average USB sticks but write speed is a bit disappointing for JPEG files, specially when connected to a USB-3 port.
Client d’Amazon –
As advertised. Good Price.
Rick –
Very slow, no better than my old USB. Typical transfer speeds range from 4 to 12 megabytes. Never expected this to reach the max possible 100 Mbps as stated, and I would’ve been happy with something around 50 Mbps, but this is just awful. I’m using 2 year old Dell laptop with USB 3.0, nothing out of the ordinary. Won’t every consider Kingston again, will be switching to Sandisk.
Louis Thomas –
Advertised and sold as USB 3 speeds. Operates as USB 2 and never comes close to USB 3 transfer speed. Returned.
Sarah Davis –
Great price for a good product. Forewarning, you do only get 28.6GB to use on this drive, which is a little low in my experience.
Ross –
It’s fast for playing videos directly on my Panasonic smart TV’s built in video player. Plays MP4’s and QuickTime .mov formats on myTV. Also for photos.
Philippe –
Fast shipping, very good quality and in perfect condition!! Do not hesitate to buy it, unbeatable value for the price! Thanks very much!! The product is as described
Pauline –
Sarun –
I bought this hoping for an easy way to move my PC photos onto my new macbook but somehow the USB corrupted itself on its first use. I have tried to “scan and repair” it but it will consistently say that the USB is “corrupted” and cannot be fixed. About half of my precious photos and memories from 5 years are gone and I don’t know how to get them back. I’m very disappointed by this product.
Jim –
Really disappointed with the 32GB model… It always freezes and/or crashes when I’m either copying files on it, transferring files from folders to folders or even deleting files… It took me less time copying a 3GB file on my old usb 2.0 then the 32 GB 3.0 USB from Kingston. It’s not the first time a buy a product from Kingston but I really am disappointed with this one. Note: I received the 32GB 3.0 USB today.
Rob –
At first I was very happy with it – a sliding cap, sturdy, no bells or whistles. After the first month it would occasionally disconnect itself, and before the 2nd full month it is completely dead. Plugging it into any computer might recognize it for about 10 seconds if I’m lucky before it disappears, and during those 10 seconds I can’t access it.
Isaac Ouellet Therrien –
Don’t expect to be writing and reading of this thing very quickly. It’ll get the data where you want, but it’ll take its time. I’m using it to install Windows 10, so it’s fine, and I’m not using it that often, so it’s even more fine.
simo –
perfect , beest price and quality
gp –
Kingston Digital is always a good product. Better if it is at the right price.. Time to get it was way to long. Have ordered stuff before and i did not take as long as this product. Don’t know of it was because it was bundle with another product. Good thing I was not in a hurry to use.
Amazon Customer –
I was hoping to get faster write speeds. I tried to copy 13GB of photos….for the first half was copying at around 4MB/sec…and then very slowly started inching faster until it maxed out at 10 MB/sec. But decent price and seems like a quality build.
Calliope –
It does its job at a good price, but delivery took twice as long as it was supposed to take.
Yasseen Youssef –
The Product says it is USB 3.0 and I had bought it specifically to be able to transfer videos from my Xbox to my pc. To do that I need USB 3.0 and my Xbox is now telling me it is too slow which makes me believe it’s isnt in fact actually 3.0
shadowagent –
Great price for 32GB of portable flash storage. Use these mainly for backing up pictures off of cellphones and movies for watching on the go.
Greg –
I’ve owned many USB drives. Some brands crap out on me annoyingly quickly (Lexar!!) And some 2 gigs I’ve had for almost a decade and they still work to this day (Kingston). Granted I’ve only been using this specific product for about 2 weeks so I can’t comment on whether it will crap out yet (I promise I will if it does), but it seems to work just fine for me so far. I’ve used it on 3 different machines, on all of the ports, and everything works great. There are enough consistent poor reviews to make me hesitant, but I’m just not experiencing it. And this price for 32 gigs is one of the best deals I’ve seen on Amazon.
Suzy Tate –
Easy to use. Mine is fast, I don’t have any issues with speed. The USB fits well into my laptop – no issues like previous reviewers. Not sure about durability yet though, only used it for a month. There is a hole to attach to a lanyard. Good price!
Dan –
It is worthy to have this product basic on this price.
J.T. –
I have tested it on every USB port I have. I have Usb 3.1 SS ports, I have UHS 3 cards, other hard drives, all transfer blazing fast to my pc. This thing is false advertising. It does have 32 GB memory but it does not do USB 3.0 speed at all. Avoid if needed to do 3.0 speeds.
Rudyjuly2 –
I ordered this solely to backup my PS4 in order to transfer files in the future. To my disbelief this USB will not fit the PS4 Slim! It fits the original PS4 but not the Slim as it won’t fit in the slot. I just tried it past my return window. Only wasted $10 but I would advise buying something else without a sleeve so ridiculously large. It copied files from my original PS4 so it works technically but buy something else where the design isn’t stupid.
Jason Yuan –
Works great, no issues. It is a little on the slower side (even with USB 3), but other than that it’s fine for daily usage. Might take a while to transfer large files though.
Tony –
This product is really not good. I test the read & write rate via USB 3.0 interface, it’s even slower than my old one (usb 2.0). I tried to return it; but I have to pay the postage which would be the half price of the product.
Fran B –
After purchasing a less expensive product which ended up in the garbage, I returned to the reliable, no hassle, no disappointment product, a Kingston USB stick. They never fail me.
fringe –
No issues whatsoever unlike Sandisk products.
SBCR –
Nice build quality. I like there is no cap to lose! It will last until I lost the darn thing and then I will just get another.
The Boss –
Arrived on time and worked Great, No issues
HondaGuy –
I used mine to create a recovery disk for a Windows installation. No problems during write. Put it in a drawer for about a year until I ran into computer problems and needed it. When I tried to use it for recover, it wouldn’t mount until a few tries, then wouldn’t stay mounted, so I was never able to use it for recovery. Next day, I tried to use it to copy a few files and it would stall during writes and the writes would contain corrupted files. Uggh.
Will Kovacs –
I moved my music onto the drive but it took an excessive amount of time – more in line with a 2.0 USB drive. I was not impressed.
Steve S. –
Works Great! Good Quality! Great Value.
farticle –
I guess you get what you pay for. It’s corrupted and unrecoverable. Junk. Don’t buy it.
Samuel –
16gb usb flash drive for under $10. Can’t go wrong, plus it’s Kingston and not sub quality Chinese knockoff.
Len P –
It seems to work correctly, but I haven’t had the opportunity to test the speed and the reliability of this device, but it looks good.
ILAN DALLAL –
I formatted the 32 GB memory stick. Properties indicated 28.8 GB available for storage. I could not transfer a 14 GB file on to the memory stick. Only 12 GB were really available. Not worth the price.
Janelle –
I bought these to put pictures on and moving them from my computer to the flash drive was super quick. These are one of the best drives I have had. Very durable and strong. Excellent quality for the price!
M’Kay –
Pros: It lasted 4 years and many, many OS installations Cons: When it bit the bullet, it bit it hard. Glad I only spent 14$ on this drive as it had some odd issues from time to time.
